A Lakeside Sangeet in Udaipur: Natasha and Arjun
Words by TBOI Staff · 24 September 2026

Eighty guests, one long table on the lake, and a finale where both families danced the same song in different styles.
The brief was one line: a sangeet that feels like the last evening of a long holiday.
Natasha and Arjun gathered eighty people at a lakeside deck in Udaipur, strung the ghats with candles and let the water do the decorating.
The Evening
Guests arrived by boat at sunset. Dinner was served family style at one long table, forty seats a side, rajwadi recipes from both grandmothers on the same menu.

The performances were strictly amateur and entirely perfect. Two college friends, one aunt who had clearly rehearsed, and a finale where both families danced the same song in different styles.
The best sangeets are not staged. They are hosted.
The Detail We Loved
Instead of party favours, every guest found a brass diya at their seat, engraved with the date. At ten, someone read out the couple's first text messages. The lake heard everything.
